Students in the SIUC SoJ win numerous annual awards and other recognition for their work, not only in student categories, but also in professional competitions.

Some highlights of the last decade include:

• International and national acclaim
  • Summit International named the JRNL 303 class its Silver winner in Broadcast Advertising
  • DE Advertising grabbed second place at CNBAM
  • Several photojournalists reached the finals of the Hearst awards
  • Daily Egyptian won CMA best story of the year
  • American Advertising Federation group rated second in regionals
  • Daily Egyptian made the finals for the CMA Pacemaker
  • Newseum commemorated Ryan Rendleman
  • Several students won Addys
• Statewide honors
  • Daily Egyptian best in Illinois College Press Association
  • Emily Sunblade best multimedia in Illinois Press Photographers Association
  • Numerous writers and photographers named among the best in nearly every category of Illinois College Press Association

Every year the school recoinizes student achievements at an honors banquet. Scholarship winners also are announced at this event.
